Flintlock Rifle Build
Starting in January of 2023, Ryan, Abigail, and I started going to the Log Cabin shop located in Lodi, Ohio. We had started to spend weekends after I enrolled Ryan in a Rifle building class. When done, Ryan would have had his own Custom Flintlock muzzleloader. As you can see, this isn't your random kit. This was being built from the ground up. It's been a huge learning experience for all of us. Abigail had also been going and learning the process. She always packed our lunches the night before for us to take. It was going to be a long-term project. Unfortunately, once the accident happened, we never returned. We hope to go back and finally get it done soon.
Youth Turkey hunt
April 15th 2023
During Rabbit hunting season, Ryan Christopher Abigail Carey and I sat in the woods and planned an entire youth turkey hunt for this year. Ryan and I had gone in years past with little luck. We spent time getting Abbi ready for this hunt we were supposed to go on today. The day Abbi and Ryan wrecked, we had plans later that day to get her a shotgun for turkey season. After Abbi died, I stopped thinking about this hunt. I didn't care anymore. Then a friend Jerry Boyle invited Tonya Carey and me to a bow hunting event in Abbi's honor he paid for our attendance. They had a huge turkey hunting package raffle. Turkey calls, decoys, blind, etc. It was well worth 900 dollars or more. I had a weird feeling about the raffle. I bought only three tickets. We won, which made me realize we still had to go. Ryan swore he was going to get a turkey for Abbi. We have gone several times over the past few years, never shooting anything. Ryan got one within the first two hours of the season starting. The most amazing thing was that I never noticed when we went out. He was wearing Abigail's favorite hat. Her Granger Smith yee yee hat. That was the first thing he said to me look, I have Abbi's hat on. I did this for her. I'm so happy for Ryan and so sad for Abbi. We miss her so so very much. I know you did this today, Abbi. We love you so so very much.
4-H Scrapbook
So one of Abigail's Cousins, Reagan Zeger, shared a story with me the other day. It is one of the many reminders we get about her every day.

So I made a scrapbook with Abbi and ended up going to state for it, and we were down there at the fair, and I needed a belt, so we got one, but as we were checking out, I looked over and instantly started crying because there were a bunch of leather bracelets with Philippians 4:13 verses on it so I had to get one. The guy said it was his wife's favorite verse, and he always uses it to remember her.

This verse Abigail had hanging in her bedroom on her mirror and looked at it every day.

Proposed House Bill 256

Ohio has a proposed house bill that would require the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, if passed, to ask anyone who buys an Ohio hunting or fishing License if they would like to be an Organ donor. We were asked to Testify to the Ohio Senate Health Committee about the impact of organ Donation. You can watch the video below and read an article about the bill.
